  • Firstly it is necessary to find out the problem, often it is seen that people are confused about their main problem, but once they recognize the problem then it becomes easy to apply problem solving techniques and make a firm decision to solve the issue in most efficient ways. One can search for some common reasons for the issue like factors responsible for the problem; time, place and number of people involved in it. Trying to explore all kind of approaches doesn’t matter how lengthy it is, the effect of approach matters here. One can apply SWOT (strength-weakness-opportunities-threat) theory in order to make an analysis of strength, weakness, opportunities and threats under the issue. Digging into the root of these components of an issue provides more details in order to find an appropriate solution and make a correct decision.
  • When one performs brainstorming with all the possible approaches the next step comes of evaluation of those possible approaches. Consideration of each and every option must be done along with their advantages and disadvantages also and should be researched properly to see how far these approaches can affect the working of an organization. Evaluation of approaches should also include detailed investigation about the resources and needful things required for the particular approach. Decisions based on consideration of these important factors can benefit the organization.
  • After taking a detailed look at present options and alternatives one should evaluate properly in mind about the effectiveness of a particular approach and based on advantages and disadvantages and all the factors of the approach the individual should make a decision. After making the decision one should take a review of the decision whether the approach is taking care of all the aspects of the issue or not.
  • In the next step when the decision is made and it is decided that based on a particular approach the decision has been made then it should be made assured that the decided approach will be implemented with proper effect. According to the plan the steps should be executed and should be carefully implemented according to the situation.
  • Last but not the least is to monitor closely the progress of the approach and its effect on the problem which was raised. This monitoring gives a proper idea of the technique used in problem solving and decision made regarding that was correct or not and if correct or incorrect then up to what extent.
